Real Firewood, Straight from the Island
Saanich Firewood is an owner-operated local supplier delivering seasoned, ready-to-burn cords across the Saanich Peninsula and Greater Victoria. Small operation, straight talk, honest volume.
Meet Robbie
Saanich Firewood is run by Robbie, the same person who picks up the phone, cuts and splits the wood, drives the truck, and dumps your cord in your driveway. No dispatchers, no call centre, no middlemen adding a cut to the price.
The business started with a simple frustration: too many local suppliers were selling wet or green wood as "seasoned," short-changing volume, and charging premium prices for nothing extra. The plan for Saanich Firewood was to do the opposite. One honest product, one flat price, and a real person you can call back next season.
Robbie also runs sister firewood businesses across Vancouver Island (Cowichan, Nanaimo, Langford, and Comox), so if you're outside the Saanich delivery zone we can usually point you to the closest local operation for the same wood at the same fair price.
Our Principles
Honest Cord Volume
A cord is 128 cubic feet, a stack four feet by four feet by eight feet. We measure honestly. Face cords and stove cords are not the same as a full cord, and we never pretend otherwise.
Actually Seasoned
Green wood costs less and looks the same to an untrained eye, but it smokes, won't light, and coats your flue with creosote. We only deliver wood that's ready to burn today.
One Flat Price
$400 per cord. $775 for two. Delivery fees vary by zone but are quoted up front. No fine print, no card surcharges, no gimmicks.
Owner-Direct
Every call and text goes to Robbie. If there's a question, an issue, or a scheduling conflict, you talk to the person who can actually solve it.
The Wood We Deliver
A premium mix of seasoned Vancouver Island species: usually Douglas fir, western hemlock, red alder, and some bigleaf maple. All properly split, cured to under 20% moisture, and clean enough to stack in a garage without a mess.
Douglas fir gives you the hot, steady burn most Peninsula stoves are dialled in for. Hemlock is lighter and lights easily. Alder and maple round out the mix for coals that hold overnight. It's the same wood we'd burn ourselves, because it's the same wood we do.
